Here we will take a look at 10 songs with black in the title. Hope you enjoy.
Released in 1990, this Janet Jackson song peaked at number 15 in the UK charts. It was one of the first single releases that Janet Jackson wrote herself.
Although having been rereleased in 1980 and 1995 it was on original release that this song was most successful. It managed to peak at number 2 in the UK charts in 1970.
Written by David Tyson and Chtistopher Ward, this song is most successfully covered by Alannah Myles. It raced to number 2 in the UK charts in 1990.
Taken from the album Grave Dancers Union, Black Gold was the follow up single to Runaway Train. Released in 1994 it peaked at number 26 in the UK charts.
This song was one of the biggest selling singles of the 1990’s. It was taken from Jackson’s album Dangerous and raced all the way to the top of the UK charts in 1991.
Taken from the film Calamity Jane and performed by Doris Day, this song was released as a single in 1954. It managed to reach a high of number 7 in the UK charts.

When Ram Jam recorded this song it led to a boycott of some civil rights groups who claimed the song was insulting to black woman! Of course, the song itself is actually a very old one, it was first recorded in 1933. Ram Jam’s version was released in 1977 hitting number 7 in the UK charts and number 18 in the US charts.
The Move were led by Roy Wood, who would later be a founder of the Electric Light Orchestra. This song was released in December 1968 and soon climbed to the number one spot in the UK.
This Santana version is probably more famous but this is the original. It was released as a single in the UK in 1968, just nudging into the top forty, peaking at number 37.

@MassterGee: pretty sure the author of this didn’t ‘forget’ Paint It Black’ they probably just chose not to put it in. There are plenty of other songs with black in the title that could have been here instead!!
