Many have never heard of Statik, even residents of his own city despite rapping under the same name for the last seven to eight years he has overcome many obstacles to produce two full length cds, as well as many collaborations with members of Scandalous Entertainment who gave him his start in the music business. Today he stands alone as a producer, and artist, working full time and doing music any chance he can find. Help spread the word on some positive, heartfelt music by a guy I’ve known for 10 years.
Jordan Martinez aka Statik hails from Denver Colorado. He describes his music as progressive, experimental hip hop using touches of every genre that influences him. He has worked with many other local artists from labels like Scandalous Entertainment who helped him produce his first full length album “The Unpredictable” in 2008. It would prove to be nearly 4 full years before he had the means to produce another full length album, with his music taking a drastic turn in the mean time. During his break between albums he collaborated with DeVillain from Scandalous Entertainment on a song called “About the Message” that gained quite a bit of steam when first released but has yet to ever be put out on album. He began under a label I can describe as more of a mainstream feel, with a lot of influences from many big name rappers/producers felt throughout the beats, and wound up producing his own music having been described as a cross between Atmosphere’s Slug, and Twista. With lyrics rapped faster than most can talk and emotion and truth behind all his music it’s a wonder he hasn’t already been signed by a major label.
2010-2011 marked the time Statik would hit the scene once again he met fellow rapper Gemini after moving to Golden, Colorado having built up enough equipment to allow him to produce music on his own he and Gemini would set to work on the songs that would arguably define his long stay in the rap game. Gemini comes from a slightly different style but helped bring out the more animated side of Statik allowing him to become to guy he has always been outside of music, fun loving, but emotional, deep and thoughtful yet immature at times. It’s allowed his music to flow more freely. This latest album included the hit songs “Somebody I used to Know” a remake of the hit Goyte song (a solo track), “Shadow of Light” (collaboration with Gemini), and Positive Secrets (also with Gemini).
The Album has 11 songs on it:
Intro
Somebody That I Used to Know Remix
What They Sayin
Aint Nobody Fuckin Wit Me Lil Wayne Remix
Shadow Of Light
On My Mind
Tha Future
Smile
Diamond in the Rough featuring G
Positive Secrets
This album was released as a joint project between Gemini and Statik allowing the two to both reach new heights in their career including radio play in towns across the state, as well as some noteriety in other states. Their music has stretched far and wide but has yet to gather a strong enough following to get them noticed.
