Singers Will Use Voice Sampling Mikes in the Future

Singers will use voice sampling to help them sing better.

I’m amazed that people with terrible voices think they can sing.  In the future, people that think they can sing but can’t will use a voice sampling microphone to allow them to sound like they are singing.

When a person sings into the mike, sampled voices will be used to construct a singing voice that will be heard from the speakers.  I have a four-octave range with the bottom note sounding more like a rumble and the top note in falseto.  But on some days, I sound fantastic.  In my case, I would sample my voice on the good days and use it on the days my voice isn’t the best.  Also, since it is sampled, I could “sing” an octave or so lower than normal and an octave or two above normal because the computer will be able to make the adjustments.

If people want to sound like Elvis, his singing voice will be sampled.  In fact, with sampling, a person could insert a song score into a scanner and the computer would read it.  The sound engineer would listen to the song being “sung” to make it sound like Elvis is singing it instead of a sampled voice.  A sound engineer could sing into the sampling mike and Elvis’ sampled voice would be heard and recorded.

Voice sampling could give dead singers longer careers.  Sinatra sang so many songs, that it would be easy to compile the words he used and his singing voice from the beginning of his career to the end of his career to see which era would be best for a new song to be sung in.  A person that is providing the foundation voice that the sampled voice is laid over could speak the song and the singing voice could be laid over it.

Many voices sound flat and lifeless.  Voice sampling will give depth to singing voices to make them sound richer.  Even I sometimes sound flat.  But I could add vibrato and other qualities I want to make my singing voice sound like an opera singer if I desired.

Lip synching is an issue that has destroyed some singers.  Nili Vanili is a case in point.  Many singers on stage also do it, but often they won’t admit it.  I can’t see how a singer can do a workout on the stage and not sound out of breath when they sing.  With the voice sampling mike, a singer could be out of breath and as long as the song has been scanned into the computer, it will sound like the singer is in full voice.   Even bad notes will be corrected by the computer so that each tone will be as perfect as possible.

Voice sampling will allow songwriters to record their songs right after they compose them.  Some may go into self-recording just like many writers go into self-publishing.   They will write the songs, scan them into the computer, and combine the sampled singing voices laid over their voices.  When the songs sound like they want them to sound, the recordings will be pressed and the packaging will be added.  Having a shipping contract with music stores may in the future become as important as having a recording contract with recording companies today.
