Oh Happy Day

Yesterday we went to a concert in the park. It was by the lake in a town where there is a gazebo that doubles a a bandshell. Earlier that day the weather was bleak for August the sky was a dark ominous colour and I could see torrential rain pouring from the window as I listened to the Pastor that morning in church. He was going to baptize some new believers in the lake right after the service. So as he was praying He asked God to open up the sky and stop the rain for the baptismal service.

Within a few minutes it did exactly that. The baptism went off without a hitch. And now it is a picture perfect day and I had a feeling of serpindipity a moment so sublime its hard to explain. Sitting there with good friends and great free food, barbecue hotdogs, hamburgers, watermelon and cupcakes and the music a combination of popular and gospel carried me away. As they were singing ” Oh Happy Day” I had a strange thought more like a vision of how wonderful it would be if everyone I cared about would arrive with their big happy smiles and their lawn chairs and I could enjoy all of their company. I thought of my kids and grandkids and than those that were passed over like my Dad and my Aunt Rita and my Mummu, I could picture it so clearly. To see them all together again what a joy. One day we will be together again because heaven is a real place and Jesus will be with us at a great supper table and I will never have to miss anyone again. OH HAPPY DAY!
