The music and entertainment business is evolving into different industries as the Internet expands and creates new exciting opportunities for the independent music industry. The information that is contained in this article is the most comprehensive collection of music opportunities on the Internet today.
The entertainment industry is a dog-eat-dog business, where more dreams have been crushed than lived out. The Internet has created a wealth of new opportunities for struggling and accomplished singers, musicians and bands to win new fans and sell their music worldwide and overnight. These five incredible career opportunities can help make your star shine a little brighter and earn the rewards of success a little easier.
Move over American Idol, because there is a new kid in town. Fame Cast is an ongoing music, comedy, dance and talent competition where they compete for a chance at the $10,000 grand prize, and even better a “Live Audience” where the audience votes for their favorite entertainers’ music video. Membership is free and registration is required.
Tune Core is an excellent opportunity for musicians, singers, bands or filmmakers to sell your finished albums and videos on iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon MP3, eMusic and more with a few clicks of the mouse. TuneCore makes juggling multiple e-music stores easy to manage through its comprehensive inventory storage system. Membership is free, but some services do require a small investment.
According to Fuzz, “As an artist or label you can stream and sell your music, post stuff to promote yourself or your bands, including an artist profile, individual band member profiles, photos, reviews, press and news. You can maintain a blog, a public gig/tour calendar, private event calendar (i.e. practices), send emails to fans, manage your mailing list, and see a list of all your fans.” As an artist in the music entertainment industry it is extremely important and valuable to reach a large fan base potential and at Fuzz you can.
Phone Sherpa is an awesome opportunity for musicians and artists to expand their market through creating and selling Ringtones and Wallpapers, so that their fans can be alerted when an incoming phone call is coming in by hearing your music.
World Wide Music Distribution is the name of the game here at this outstanding website. This is an outstanding opportunity to build your own e-music digital download store to sell your music products to potentially millions of adoring fans. You copyrights remain your property and you keep 100% of the profits from your sales. Rocmp3 provides its members with all the tools needed to start selling and marketing your own music store where you or your band can distribute the music that they create. Membership is free and registration is required.

Thanks for the post, Nelson!
I work for TuneCore and I was proud to see that we made this list. I had never heard of Fame Cast before, does that involve live streaming vids or music videos? Also, have you checked out any of the online radio services like Last FM or Pandora?
I’d be glad to answer any questions that people may have, feel free to contact me at jake@tunecore.com.
Take care,
Jake

Hi Jake -
Fame Cast contestants produce a video of them performing and enter it into the competition and it is then posted on the website. After the video entry has been posted, then the public watches the performance and cast a vote for their favorite artist in each musical category. The winners of each of the categorized competitions go on to perform before a live audience. The website explains the competition rules a lot better than I have.
Thank you for your comment and much success with your website.
Sincerely,
Nelson Doyle

Some great information there and well researched.
I would also like to let people know about http://www.dittomusic.com
We also digitally distribute ( to over 700 music , video , ringtone and straight to mobile networks ), but uniquely we handle the artists back office admin for them, giving them a fixed release date and making them fully chart eligible.
We have so far 7 UK top 40 singles, all with unsigned artists!
Its been an interesting few years for sure and i have a feeling things will just get better from this point
