Detailed explanation about the meaning of the popular song "yellow".

“Look at the stars. Look how they shine for you. And everything you do. And they were all yellow.”

He is comforting his dead girlfriend/wife (let’s say wife) that she will have a good life in heaven. Yellow means happy.

“I came along. I wrote a song for you. And all the things you do. And it was called yellow.”

After he met her, he liked everything about her. Everything she did make him happy inside.

“So then I took my turn. Oh what a thing to have done. And it was all yellow.”

He committed suicide to be with his wife. But the suicide was a happy thing for him.

“Your skin. Oh yeah your skin and bones. Turn in to something beautiful. Do you know? Do you know I love you so. Do you know I love you so?”

In her casket she looks bad but he still thinks that she is beautiful.

“I swam across. I jumped across for you. Oh what a thing to do. Cause you were all yellow”

When they were together, he would do anything for her. He would do anything to make her happy. For example, swim across a lake, jump across things, whatever. He would do anything for her.

“I drew a line. I drew a line for you. Oh what a thing to do. And it was all yellow.”

He cut his wrist (commit suicide) for her to be with her again in heaven. But again, this suicide was a happy thing for him because he would be with her again.

“Your skin. Oh yeah your skin and bones. Turn in to something beautiful. Do you know? For you I’d bleed myself dry. For you I’d bleed myself dry.”

Again, he remembers her look in the casket but he still thinks she’s beautiful and bleeds himself dry (commits suicide by cutting wrist) to see her again.

“It’s true. Look how they shine for you. And all the things that you do”

He’s confident that she will be happy in heaven because of all the good deeds that she has done. The stars are welcoming her.
