How To Form A Rock Band.
The typical rock band has a drummer, a bassist, lead guitarist and a vocalist. You can try looking for band members in schools, youth clubs, asking friends or an online site such as Facebook. Make sure your band members are always available to play gigs, otherwise it will stop your band from taking off.
Get every band member to agree on the name, try to make the name sound original. Find a band manager with good knowledge of the music scene as they will know how to get gigs and generate interest in your band. Negotiate any earnings for the band and what percentage the manager takes and sign to at least a yearly contract. Split the amount of money amongst band members equally and have some money spare for traveling to gigs and for spare equipment if it brakes.
Every chance you get to practice do it because you will never get better if you don’t practice. Always rehearse with your group so you always get it right because you don’t want someone forgetting what to sing or not knowing what strings to play.
You don’t necessarily have to write your own songs, even some of the most successful artists didn’t write their own songs e.g. Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra. When you have a song or a couple rehearsed, record it on a computer or camcorder, etc. Make sure it sounds good by sending it to people you don’t know to get constructive criticism or post it on youtube and yahoo answers. Get feedback off other similar bands.
Print off flyers and advertise them in pubs, clubs, shops, etc. Make people aware that you are in a band and what type of genre you play.
Record a demo and make sure it is as perfect as you can get it and send it in to various record companies and radio stations. If you are lucky you will get a record deal but if you don’t get a proposition keep trying and practicing and improve your image as you will get noticed more and create interest for your band
