A review for the band Breaking Benjamin.
Formed in 1988, Breaking Benjamin is a four man band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Their music is categorized mostly as post-grunge or alternative rock and they have released three Cd’s so far with their newest scheduled to release on September 29th. They are known for their dark melodies, meaningful lyrics and Benjamin Burnley’s clear, passionate voice. But just because Burnley takes the spotlight doesn’t mean the other members of the band aren’t talented as well. Chad Szeliga, the band’s drummer, rips on his drum set cleanly and precisely while bringing a certain metal feel to Breaking Benjamin’s sound. Aaron Fink plays his guitar melodically but can also play heavy, dark chords and he does it superbly. The bassist, Mark James, plays very cleanly while pulling off complicated rhythms that would send most running scared.
So is this band worth listening to? Absolutely yes. Even those who enjoy more pop rock bands will find something to like about Breaking Benjamin in their excelent melodies and fans of metal will love the heavy guitars and thrashing drums. If you weren’t sure wether or not to check out this band, stop hesitating and pick up one of their Cd’s.
