Band Logo

Recently, in the hype of all this beginner band mayhem, the band’s artist, Courtney Woodward, made what she thought was quite a simple logo for our band.

Courtney may have thought lowly of her creation, but to her astonishment, the band members loved it. It was a simple drawing, really. It was done in pencil and was more of a rough draft, but the band liked the design and general idea of it so much, we wanted to continue it right away! This seemed very appealing, but the band members wondered where they could get someone to help them edit it on the computer. So I stepped up to the plate and tried my best with graphic art. I am quite pleased with the result, and the band members were as well.

This is the rough draft:

And this is the official finished edit:

The making of this consisted of a few steps:

  1. Draw out a rough draft of the logo. That is represented by the first image. This draft was created by Courtney Woodward and was completely original.
  2. Scan the image.
  3. Send to the editor
  4. The editor (me) must then outline the letters and objects, and apply the appropriate color to them.
  5. The editor must then select the foreground, the letters and objects, and inverse the selection in order to apply a background. For this specific piece I applied a black to white linear gradient.
  6. A texture must be applied. Adobe Photoshop conveniently supplies an easy, user friendly texturizing tool that is very useful for finishing touches like the texture in this image.
  7. Release! That’s what this is! Doing this, I am leaving viewers to openly criticize (hopefully constructive) this piece. Any recommendations or positive notings will be appreciated. Thank you for reading!
