Three days of music, peace and love changed the world. The Woodstock music festival in 1969 left an impression. Bands and artists expressed their feelings through music in front of 500,000 fans. A rush down memory lane, this space takes you on a journey showcasing the 10 best performances from Woodstock.
The Woodstock Experience: Preparation and Planning
Woodstock 69 was a music concert no music buff can forget. Even those that were not a part of this three day extravaganza firmly believe this was the mother of all festivals. Woodstock gave new meaning to the flower-power hippy-happy 60s. Organized on a 600 acre dairy farm belonging to Max Yasgur, this concert saw some of the greatest performances by bands and artists of its time. The preparation and planning that went into making this festival a roaring success was truly remarkable. Initiation, effort, and support of Artie Kornfeld, John Roberts, Michael Lang, Max Yasgur and Joel Rosenman will not be forgotten. Organizers toiled hard to give the world what it had never witnessed before.
Woodstock 69 was a monumental music festival that changed lives with its cultural expression and openness. The first band to sign contract for the event was Creedence Clearwater Revival, and then the other acts followed. A multitude of people turned up for the concert. This was an event where people united as a family of perfect strangers, all for one common love, music. Over a course of four days from August 15 to August 18, 1969, 32 acts performed.
Here are flashbacks of the 10 best performances from Woodstock 69
1. Richie Havens
2. Canned Heat
3. Ravi Shankar
4. Santana
5. Janis Joplin
6. The Who
7. Jefferson Airplane
8. Joe Cocker
9. Ten Years After
10. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Good article & good clips. When I was in the Navy in the early ’70s it seemed like everybody from the East Coast claimed to have been at Woodstock. Dream on I guess.
