If you have a little song and dance man at home, he most likely repeats the things he learns in playschool as soon as he is reminded of the tunes. He will sing when he is in the bathroom, dance and twirl in the living room, and find things to tap the beat on whenever possible.

He will sing when he is in the bathroom, dance and twirl in the living room, and find things to tap the beat on whenever possible. If this sounds like your friend, you might want to think about the best musical gifts for 4 year old boys to surprise him with something that will stimulate and develop his natural talents.
Tambourine
Tambourines are a lot of fun, and 4 year old boys are usually found of them. Get him a regular kind in plastic for $1 at the thrift store; add a bit more to get little lamps included for effects in the dark. You can also get a real wooden kind which will be harder to break but be prepared for more noise from this kind of tambourine.
Keep an eye on what sort of rhythm tool he uses in playschool and get the same thing for more singing and dancing at home. You can also ask his teacher if you can get a copy of the music they work with during the week. This will surely get him into the mood to practice at home!
Piano
It is a bit early to start the piano lessons, unless you are looking to transform him into a star from early childhood. You can get him a cheaper electrical piano. This is easy to store in a closet when you don’t need the music playing, and it will give him an idea of what can be done with drums and tunes. If there are siblings, make sure that the piano is being used according to a schedule so that everyone gets to play on it!
Flute
You can always give him a flute, but understand that it will be used much like a whistle. (unless he is unusually talented) If there are siblings you must also be careful of the flute being used as a sword or something similar…
