Elaborate Organs: Bigger is Better

The beautifully haunting sounds of the Pipe Organ can be in Churches, Synagogues, Cathedrals, and concert halls world wide. Some of these organs are so elaborate that the buildings that house them pale in comparison.

Organ at Cadet Chapel. West Point Military Academy

The organ at West Point was built and installed by the M.P. Moller Co. in 1911. C The organ has 874 stops and 23,236 pipes.

Wannamaker Organ in Philadelphia PA

This impressive organ is considered to be the largest working instument in the world, but you won`t find it in a Church or Cathedral. The Wannamaker is housed at Macy`s Department store in Philly. The Wannamaker is a symphonic organ and is renowned for it`s ability to produce the sound of an entire orchestra. To hear the organ being played click here

Newberry Memorial Organ

Woolsey Hall at Yale University is home to the Newberry Memorial Organ. The hall was built in 1901 and is the main venue for the Newhaven Symphony Orchestra.

Sea Organ

This Sea Organ is located in Zadar, off the shores of Croatia. The  movement of the waves pushes air through 35 musically tuned tubes that lay under the white stone steps creating random sounds.
