Discogkahvi 038 – Skyscape – a River in The City

Greetings, dear readers. Discogkahvi 038 for Kahvi 038: aussie Skyscape’s sole Kahvi Collective release (I peeked ahead), a lucid ambient song called “A River in the City”. Download at Kahvi, or just click the YouTube below.



A mystical electric piano effect. A nasal, clearly electronic synth bobs in the flow, before a pluck-drop-beep, reminiscent of old Capcom joins in. Things get all deep-like with accompaniment of bass at 1 minute. The song’s title injects itself into my mental image, boulevard waterways and what have you. 1:40 begins some light percussion, keeping time. This sonic river meanders till 2:18, where some scratchy percussion starts getting stuff done in a loose breakbeat. My headphones are my canoe down these aural oxbows. The vibe starts to do some cool things in the third minute, particulalry in the latter two thirds of said third minute. This intensity begins to fade, quickly, with just our mystical electric piano leaving us.
