Obama Care

Every citizen seems to have different ideas about President Obama’s new health care plan. There are many pros and cons. Some see it as a new day for low income families who cannot afford high health insurance premiums. Those who can afford premiums are fearful they wont have access to the good health care they have today.

Obama Care is now on the map since the Supreme Court of Georgia upheld the federal health care bill. There were different reactions from citizens. Julianne Thompson led tea party members who objected. Thompson said, “We’re going to use this as a steppingstone to get Republicans and conservatives elected and turn this thing around and repeal it.” The bill looks to be proof that politicians are thinking about the health of the people who will vote in the next election. It’s a pretty sure bet that a larger number can’t afford high health insurance premiums than those who can.  It’s good for Obama and the Democrats and bad for Romney and the Republicans, even more important it’s good for the people of our country.

People who have good insurance are afraid that when everyone has health coverage it will limit their choice and the availability of health care. They are afraid hospitals will be overrun by the general population, and that wont have access to doctors and nurses for their needs. The passage of the health care bill in Georgia proves Obama has a good chance of being reelected and can move forward with policies to get the country’s economy rolling. Health care should be a right, not a privilege for everyone. Low income families deserve health care just as much as those who earn large salaries. We need to understand that every American, rich or poor should have access to medical treatment. In the rest of the world it’s taken for granted. Too often low income people have to make the choice to buy groceries or take a sick child to the doctor.

Some seniors fear they will be pushed aside in favor of younger people. Others say it isn’t the American way and it’s taking away our personal freedom. Some business owners worry that they will be fined if they can’t afford to offer heath care to employees, and fear businesses will stagnate if they’re unable to hire new workers. Mike Parcard said, ” It will be more profitable to pay someone 10 hours overtime than hire a new employee.” Others see it as a hand up for business growth.

Opinions range far and wide for health care. Many people who cannot afford insurance are happy that their families will have the services of doctors and hospitals when needed. Others fear they will have to pay insurance premiums having nothing to pay with, or be fined money they don’t have. We don’t really know how the health care plan will work until we see it. One thing seems certain, insurances companies wont have a thing to worry about. They will still be profitable.
