A retired programmer is having to fight just to keep his antique 1980 thousand CC Iron Head Sportster on the road. It ran like brand new until ethanol got added to all the gasoline available. His programming experience is helping him in his mechanical pursuit. It’s just that the government keeps talking about increasing the amount of ethanol added. They pass one law that triggers him.

Harley Davidson 100 CC Iron Head Owner

Bill is just fifty one years old. He is still very physically fit for a man that age. That is because he loves to ride his motorcycle no matter what. Bil still hits a gym and lifts weights like young men do. His motorcycle isn’t stock. It takes some muscle just to ride with the drag handlebars and Shovel-head rear shocks. The 45 scout bike springer front end contributes to this requirement. Bill doesn’t kick back watching TV so he can ride the same motorcycle that was purchased in his twenties. Bill’s determination makes it easy to ride his Harley Davidson thousand CC Sportster. Is it mandatory that retired programmers must stop motorcycle riding just because they are no longer formatting programs?

   Drastic Action Trigger

On the way inside for lunch Bill checked the mailbox and was shocked. In it was one of the tiny boxes from the Federal government. The reason it was upsetting for Bill was that some of his other biker pals had already received one. They had passed the problems the box contained along to Bill. It carried what was known as a micro speed monitor. Uncle Sam wanted every motorcycle to mount one on their motorcycle so the government would know exactly what the motorcycle did every moment that it moved. Should the government pass some law that makes a nation wide system of main frames watch everyone as they ride a motorcycle?

   Motorcycle Rider Skills

While walking to the garage Bill loudly cursed. It had taken him a lot of money and mechanical skills to make his antique chopper run like new on gasoline with any ethanol fuel additive in it. It had just been too hard to find one of those old stock 1980 Sportster ignitions to work with and replace the points that Bill had been using for several years. Some of his friends were still working for the software company he had retired from. They had helped develop a computer ignition system that helped defeat the fact that ethanol tended to evaporate so much. Why can’t home made chopper parts incorporate PC hardware?
