A review of the CD.

Glad Rock’s 2008 offering of Indic Mist’s “Rains Of Fire” album provides cover art from Pratimaa Pandey and photos of those involved inside the CD booklet, along with the music. Atul provides an amazing array of musical input, covering composing, arranging, lyrics, vocals, sax, flutes, guitars, keys, programming, and bass – whilst Gini provides much of the programming, arranging and production. Also involved are Chintan on bass, Vishal offering piano on the second track, and Jyoti who offers the lyrics for the fourth song. Made in India, this influence in pleasantly present throughout, making this a great album to back an Indian themed dinner party, as well as for relaxing with in the evenings. DON’T SAY: A helicopter, gunshot, footsteps, and a car offer the introduction to a swayful tune. “Usual+” band instruments play the song, leading to a sound-effect climax.

U R MY SONG: “Just enough” combination of effect and instrumentation to come across well. Gorgeous vocals cover a gentle, melodious tune. A piano joins in to create an all-time appealing track. This song would be great for an after-dinner slow-dance.

RAINS OF FIRE: The title track. Stepping music and sliding vocals it is worth checking out the lyrics. A seductive sax joins in to flavor the song.

KAAFIR: Water offers the intro to my personal favorite track. A flute adds Indian flavor to this flowing and relaxing tune.

CHIRUA: Wildlife intros the second Indian-focused track. (This song goes well with nibbling from a bowl of Indian snack-mix.) The combo of flute, sax, and vocals is prominent amidst a beautiful blending of sounds. Wind takes us out.

WALK IN MY GHETTO: A style change. Pacey and electro-beated, a tale is told in a spoken-beat style voice.

PAIN: Opening with a melody-filled balladic-chant, emotional vocalizations continue to top a lively tune with regulatory beat.
