What’s the Difference Between Heavy Metal and Hard Rock?

Fellow headbangers lend me your ears. For those you would like to know the difference between those two genres, now will be the perfect chance.

Hard Rock uses classic overdrive sound. Overdrive is created when the tubes on an amp or a specific setting on any amplifier(the drive knob) have been pushed to the limit. It creates a long sustains and kinda like a twangy sound more of a lighter distortion. Heavy Metal they use distortion. Distortion is when the Overdrive is overdriven. Much longer sustains and a deeper more heavier sound.

Hard Rock uses a classic Drum Set without double bass or a double bass pedal. Double bass is when your set has two bass drums instead of one. Double bass pedal is when your pedal has two pedals or one and it has two mallets seperate and attached to double chained rod. Heavy Metal uses plenty of those. Dragonforce, Trivium, Slipknot, As I Lay Dying, Opeth, Job for a Cowboy, etc. use plenty(meaning a lot) of double bass.

Well that’s all of the knowledge I can give you. Peace Out.
