This is a list of my top 10 favorite punk bands.
I am a huge fan of all types of music. Any kind of music there is, i like it. but one sticks out for me personally because i feel that i have the most in common with it. This genre is Punk! Punks have anarchist views and have a do it yourself mentality that i thuroughly connect with. Throughout time punk has evolved alot. every decade there is a new branch of punk that gets more and more popular. For me these are the bands that keep it alive and really know what punk is all about. Hopefully you will research them and find that you too enjoy their music.
1. Crass- Crass were an English punk band, formed in 1977. Their anarchist views and political standings influenced the mass’s and really kick started what punk is today.

2. Rudimentary peni- Rudimentary Peni are a British anarcho-punk band that started in the 80’s. they were influenced from many different musical genres, as well as other aspects of culture, they are known as one of the most diverse and original groups to emerge from the punk scene.
3. Amebix- Amebix are an English crust punk band. Formed as The Band with No Name, Amebix’s original run was from 1978 to 1987. They were one of the first bands to blend anarcho-punk and heavy metal music, and are often cited as one of the key bands that helped to create the crust punk style.
4. Dystopia- Dystopia were a crust punk band Formed in Orange County, California, in 1991. popular in both the heavy metal and crust punk scenes, due in large part to their bleak, disturbing/awsome imagery. By far these guys are on the top, but since they are more metal/crust punk than Classic punk rock, so i can only credit them as being 4 on my list.

5. Minor Threat- Minor Threat was an American hardcore punk band that formed in Washington, D.C. in 1980 and then broke up in 1983. even though their band was so short-lived, the band had a strong influence on hardcore punk music . Minor Threat’s song Straight Edge created a subculture of drug free punks. The straight edge movement is still around today and many punks claim it.

6. Black Flag- was an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands. Very kick ass. The album “my war” is a personal favorite.https://www.triond.com/submit/online-editor

7. Doom- were an English crust punk band from Birmingham, they were together from 1987 to 1990. Doom is considered pivotal in the rise of crust punk.

8. Antischism- was an American crust punk band from Columbia, South Carolina. They are very popular within the crust and anarcho-punk sub-cultures.
9. Bad Brains- is an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. They are widely regarded as among the main benefactors to the genre.

10. Spazz- Spazz was an influential American Power Violence/hardcore punk band active between 1992. They are more powerviolence then punk i suppose but powerviolence is a subgenre of punk.

Great article. What happened to the Sex Pistols. Loved Black Flag, even met the lead guitarist of Bad Brains in Woodstock, NY in a recording studio with King Crimsons guitarist Robert Fripp. Both real down to earth cool guys. Nicely Written!
