Tributes to the band.

There are a few bands credited with making Punk Music what it is today; The proverbial godfathers. But The Sex Pistols and Bad Religions of the world will all point you in the same direction when asked about the most influential band in the storied history of punk music… that of the Ramones. They made three chords, catchy hooks, and harmonizing the backbone of the music. And their influence extends beyond the genre; this is a band that influenced the likes of Ozzy, Metallica, and Kiss.
Here are the tributes; the covers by the bands the Ramones helped to create. Enjoy.
Pennywise Blitzkreig Bop
Only a great punk band could make this song their own and keep it punk.
Backyard Babies Pet Semetary
Great cover by a fairly obscure band; got a Social Distortion feel to it.
RHCP Havanna Affair
The Chili Peppers have their own unique brand of funk; it translates well into a Ramones song.
Offspring I Wanna Be Sedated
The Offspring pretty much had to do a Ramones cover somewhere along the way; they’re on of those bands that never would have existed without the Ramones.
Kiss Do You Remember Rock N Roll Radio
When Kiss covers your songs, you’ve made it.
Eddie Vedder and Zeke I Believe In Miracles
An absolutely brilliant copy; actually one of those rare gems that ends up being better that the original.
Garbage I Just Wanna Have Something To Do
I was really prepared to hate this song. Very few female covers of Ramones songs work. This one really did.
Rob Zombie Blitzkreig Bop
This is what they mean when they say making a cover your own.
Metallica 53rd and 3rd
Like with Kiss…. how great are you when Metallica covers you?
Anthrax We’re a Happy Family
Some of the Ramones songs are meant to be tongue in cheek; people forget that Anthrax has always had a sense of humor.
Green Day Teenage Lobotomy
Another group who’s roots go directly back to the Ramones.
The Strokes Life is a Gas
I hate the Strokes. They are one of the most boring musical groups ever assembled. That being said, this is a pretty good cover. Guess it really is all about the material.
Die Toten Hosen Blitzkrieg Bop
When a song has been covered as many times as Blitzkrieg Bop, it’s hard to find an original way to present it. So rather than going foward, they went back. Made it more raw, more 70’s punk.

Blitzkrieg Bop is my least favorite Ramone song, I find myself saying the alphabet to it every time…
its too over played and apparently over covered.
