Hipster, hipster, hipster. Everyone wants to be one. This article will show you six hipster bands that you might like. Who knows? One of them could be your next favorite band!
1. Semisonic
Semisonic was an American alternative rock band. The band was formed in Minnesota in 1995 and consisted of three members who were Dan Wilson, John Munson and Jacob Slitcher. They are probably best known for their hit singles in the late 1990s like “Closing Time”, “Secret Smile” and “Singing in My Sleep.
Note: Semisonic isn’t exactly hipster, but they do make good songs.
2. Two Door Cinema Club
Two Door Cinema Club are an indie (yay) rock band formed in 2007, in Northern Ireland. The band members are Sam Halliday, Alex Trimble and Kevin Baird. They released their debut album, Tourist History on March 2010 and are signed to Kitsune Music. “Kids” and “What You Know” are my favorite. Their song “Kids” are actually stuck in my head right now.
3. Modestep
Modestep are a dubstep/electronic rock band formed in 2010 in London (Hooray for all you dubstep fans). They usually perform to live audiences. Tony and Josh Friend have been Disc-Jockeying since 2001 but they formed the band with Matthew Curis and Nick Tsang in 2010. Their debut single “Feel Good” was released on February 2011. “Bite the Hand”, “Sunlight” and “To The Stars” are some good songs made by them.
4. The Dodos
The Dodos are an indie band formed in the US. The band was formed in 2005 and consists of only two members, Meric Long and Logan Kroeber. They have made 4 albums so far, Beware of the Maniacs in 2006, Vister in 2008, Time To Die in 2009 and No Color in 2011. A song I recommend you to listen by The Dodos is Winter.
5. Hollywood Undead
Hollywood Undead is a rap rock band formed in 2005. Their first album, Swan Songs, was released in 2008 and they have released three albums so far. The band consists of five members and they all wear unique masks similar to the Avenged Sevenfold. They usually make songs about dark topics such as suicide and death. Some of their good songs are “Been To Hell”, “Undead” and “Bullet”. “Bullet” is probably the most upbeat song about suicide I’ve ever heard.
6. I Am Arrows
I Am Arrows is a band founded by drummer Andy Burrows in 2009. They signed to Universal Records eleven days after he left his ex-band, Razorlight. Their song “Nice Try” is featured in 2011 movie “Friends with Benefits”.
