Pearl and the Puppets

This Scottish four-piece are destined to be the next big thing.

A few years ago Katie Sutherland was just an ordinary student, working towards a career in teaching; now as her alter ego Pearl she fronts this hot new band Pearl and the Puppets.  The name alone makes this group stand out, but it is when you listen to their unique sound that you really stop and take notice.

Twenty year old Katie, played the piano as a child, but it was not until University that she began playing guitar and writing her own songs; something which she has a natural talent for.  After creating a myspace page she quit  her studies to concentrate on music full time.

Along with Blair McMillan (drums and percussion), Gordon Turner ( guitar, ukulele, keys and bvs) and Scott Clark (bass and bvs) she is ready to take the music world by storm.  They are already managed by Twenty First Artists management company who’s books include the likes of James Blunt, Elton John, Lily Allen and Just Jack; and have recently signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappel.

People are already catching on to them; their song Because I Do featured in a Vodafone advertisement in Australia and New Zealand and last Summer they supported chart topping Sugababes in concert; so you can bet that we will be hearing a lot more from them in the very near future.

Their sound has been described as Regina Spektor meets Dolores O’Riordan, while there myspace page clssifies them as an acoustic, indie band.  However you put it:  they are good.   Don’t take my word for it  though, judge for yourselves with these video clips.

Make Me Smile
