Indie Rock, School Bands battling on the Salisbury scene.

Rock band are becoming an increasingly popular part of some of today’s school boys lives. On the thirteenth of June there is a battle of the bands contest in the local Salisbury area, where around 8 school boy indie bands will be fighting for the top spot.

One band who seems to be very confident is  Blinded by the Light who are hoping to ”promote their music in writing and on air.” aiming to achieve a similar standard of “The Wild Mercury Sound” (from Eton)  .  Things are looking promising as they have already got potential music possibilities on radio stations such as spire FM and BBC Somerset.

Blinded by the Light are a thriving new band set out on the Indie music circuit.  The music they create is something between acoustic and indie rock combining to make something slightly better.  The band consists of Olly Nias as the talented vocals and lead guitar, Harry Winstanley as the mess on the rhythm guitar and the light hearted yet solid Mark Keevil on the drums. This trio is tipped to be the next big thing on the music scene. The band flourish in their gigs, with the next two lined up shortly.  The first taking place at Godolphin Theatre, Salisbury on the 13th June and the second at Downside on the 30th. What the band lacks in professional essentials such as a manager and a record label, it makes up for in entertainment, quality of music and the sheer talent of looking good on stage at all times.

The band writes all of its own music, the songs included so far are: Can’t remember her name, Cry for the stars, L.W and keep being me. Joe Mahon (an attendant at their last concert at Trafford described their music to be “a real touch of class” We wish them all the luck and look forward to them breaking the headlines in the new future
