The subject of Metal!
Metal is probably the last bastion of real music we have left in this world. While most of pop culture is purely influenced by a few people, metal stays as one of the most independent genres of music. Young musicians wanting to get out into the world release home made CDs and things, sold in local stores and independently. This shows that the ambition and support people have for this entertainment source is massive.
The number of sub-genres that metal has amassed over its course is amazing. Those ranging from Neo-classical metal, to grindcore to even some bone-crushing nordic riffs from swedish death metal bands. The range is broad enough to satisfy any metalhead, headbanger or musician, any where in the world.
Arguably the world’s largest metal festival, Wacken Open-Air Festival in Germany attracts around 50, 000 people every year at any one time during the running time. Bands such as Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir, Cannibal Corpse and many others gather there most years, and it is usually an honor to play there.
When you start listening to metal, and you enjoy it, you generally love it for life. It has a massive, devout following, it is so fucking huge, yet a lot of people in the world have no idea it even exists.
