Pink Floyd Offers Hope Lyrically: Dark Side of the Moon Stirs the Imagination

Lunars and Solars Can Merge Both Dark and Light Creating Peace & Harmony

Why on just the ‘dark side of the moon’ will I be able to see an alternate version of "you" or "me" ? Is the over-powering emphasis on light here on earth really blinding me to ‘what is’ of what’s out there? Are we so empirically-guided, as a nation, skeptics versus believers we are not alone debate – to furnish only this planet and even then, deny the very planets existence a fighting chance ? The song itself is an escape song, it puts me into cosmos but does not leave me there thinking there is no reason to come back.

From the deeper recesses of my imagined realm I visit during cognitive naps, a song with ethereal qualities will take me on a magical journey. It begins with deep breathing, inhaling and holding for ten long seconds before exhaling slowly. Since much of the Floyd I listen to is ancient instrumental pieces they played around with in studios and then later full-feature albums, I have the opportunity to invent my own words. Probably hopeful solutions to my problems when this song decides to air on the radio at that time.

There is gilded instruction in following the ‘path’ a lunar might be expected to teach those that follow solar guidance. I believe a lunar who merely adapts to sunlight and accepts the role of work, work, work and no sleep, sleep, sleep – until it harshly crashes the survivalist – is a bit of a sadomasochist. The ‘dark side of life’ is equally susceptible to the harsh realities only the human is expected to endure, so why embrace one or the other. Would it not be wiser to take elements of each side, dark and light, Christian and Pagan, and meld so some people can feel the whole human experience. Why are we always fighting so much? Why are we so self-absorbed? Why do I care? My ego is curious.

I live both as a lunar and solar. This means I stay up into the wee hours of the morning writing, composing and editing – sleep long for 9hours then-write and artistically create and expand this entrepreneurs way of making the literary artist’s dream more understandable. Writing your passions about anything and everything should be encouraged by not only an individual desire to be read, heard and understood – but also by the desire a collective field of many avid readers and opportunists listening to words behind the music, interpreting the feelings of the lyrical artist who adds to the universal language of Music.

ARE YOU … An entrepreneurial writer/ creative expressionist/ lyricist, musician, painter, sculptor, web designer, clinician, nurse, emergency medical technician, radiologist, caretaker, bread baker, grave-digger, night-owl OR a day-light time-clock punching, SAHM, teacher, manager, cashier, waitress, maintenance engineer, court case litigator, or other blue/white collar work promoting your company but not your specific individual achievements ? What have we become? A society that needs a lift for the spirit by diffusing the ego.

If this planet is to truly survive, both dark and light forces, beautiful contribution of pagan and Christian value, instead of adversity, could bring many, many people together. I remember when this group brought hundreds of fabulous energy forces derived from all different people that melded at the very long gone, Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio. In that arena, so many valuable perspectives, cultural differentiations, religious affiliations, political involvement, all left at the front door – came together. The people enjoying the music, holding up lighters and chanting with Roger Waters all boils down to more choices, more ways to improve communication and realize that music is the Universal language we All understand and follow at least when, collectively, we KNOW IT IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL !!!!

In all that has been collectively discovered for the ego to survive, i.e. respect, dignity, wealth, and even justice to some degree; the ‘dark side of the moon’ in Pink Floyds title album song, depicts a less complicated existence created together, enjoyed and then expanded to other planets awaiting inhabitation. Listen to an instrumental Floyd tune from the early 60’s and you might surprise yourself in the discovery that saving our existence plateau is easier than we think, but we must imagine and not let the ego destroy what the spirit shall continue to build.

Thank you Syd Barrett for discovering the band, Pink Floyd – legends in helping to develop the Universal language of Music ! – -"waterfall don’t ever change your ways" . . . and she hasn’t, has she?
