Kryptonite

The song was released by 3 Doors Down, in 2000. Three doors down, is an American alternate rock band. Kryptonite was a successful modern rock track, staying at number 1 for 11 consecutive weeks. Its writer was Brad Arnold, he wrote this song behind his drums, so he was hidden. Kryptonite’s message is the “Superman” in the song, is trying to keep a girl by his side, but no matter what he does he can’t stop her from slipping away. He mentions the the dark side of the moon, and the world floating into it. The dark side of the moon is a reference to the Pink Floyd song “dark side of the moon”. Kryptonite is a mythological substance that is mentioned in Superman comics.

It has detrimental affects on Superman. Even though we might be as strong as super man, in an emotional as well as physical sense, things in this world can bring us down, just like Kryptonite can bring superman down. Relationships can be weaknesses, like Kryptonite , or be a strength to you. You can’t make someone like you, even if you are superman, or have all the gadgets, looks and talents. The issues of, getting a parter, or friend to like you, is a relevant topic to today’s adolescent society. Some teenagers may feel that they have super human might, like mentioned in the line “I’ll keep you by my side with superhuman might.” But no amount of force will ever make anyone like you.
