Information about and videos of five songs: four from No Doubt and one from No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani.

I didn’t hear about No Doubt until their Tragic Kingdom album. The album was released in 1995 and it was their third. Unlike most people, I really don’t like their hit Don’t Speak. It was also played so often, I just couldn’t get  away from the song. But thankfully, that wasn’t their only hit or video from that album. Tragic Kingdom features the upbeat Just a Girl and Spiderwebs:

After another album, No Doubt released Rock Steady in 2001. Now, the title might have rock in it but the album doesn’t really belong to that genre. But it is not to say that it doesn’t feature some really catchy and addictive beats and lyrics that get the words in your head whether you like it or not. Hella good and hey baby are such songs. I’d rather have more rocking tunes, but if this is what the band is going to give me to dance to, I’ll take it.

For years, Gwen Stefani dated another band member, since school years. After the break-up, she started dating former Bush singer Gavin Rossdale. Given that Bush is a grunge/alternative rock band, Gwen Stefani would not have gone on to be a pop icon when she went solo. But I was wrong: she took pop, r&b and whatever mainstream genre that worked and created a style of her mom. I don’t like Gwen’s solo work most of the time. And although I am not the biggest grunge fan, Bush is much closer to my heart. However, I like a song, the genre doesn’t matter. So here is my fav. Gwen song- Sweet Escape featuring Akon.
