What would you rather listen to?
In the early 1900s, black communities in central U.S. founded a new and revolutionary type of music called the Delta Blues. The music deeply reflected their lives and feelings, and it wasn’t hard to notice if you heard one of their songs. Eventually, blues would merge with country music in the 1950s, to create the controversial and wild at the time, Rock N’ Roll.
Ah, yeah 50s Rock N’ Roll. You had artists such as Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and the legendary Elvis Presley. This music was really popular among everyone at the time, especially teenagers. In the early 60s, The Beatles would rise as the world’s best selling music act. The Beatles not only took off the accented back beat of Rock N’ Roll, in order to create Rock, but they also changed the term Pop Music. The Beatles basically invented today’s Pop Music.
The Beatles were really great musicians and extremely influential to anyone who came across them. But the bad thing about them was that people started liking them for this “image” they created. They still made good music, but they were mostly loved for their image. Part of this image would be that they were one of the founding fathers of the Music Video. In a way they gave birth to MTV.
So, the Beatles basically founded Modern Rock but they helped with the creation of MTV. Like everything else in the universe there is always a downside to something good. And the greater and better the deed is the bigger the downside. It’s inevitable. The Beatles would pave the way for many bands such as: Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath and the list goes on and on. This way creating Rock history. But this lasted until 1981 when MTV and friends became stations. Music Died that day.
In the 80s it was all about image, and music became less and less important. Nowadays, there is no more good music, as people would rather exploit themselves sexually to get cheap views. The spirit of true music remains in 60s and 70s rock.
