But where's the Clash, the Buzzcocks, Siouxsie and the Banshees, X Ray Spex and the Slits? I'm not really into newer punk, especially newer american punk, it just doesn't speak to me, it became too much of a stock thing without enough variation for my liking. Earlier punk had so much crazy stuff going on, you had singers with strange voices and musicians with anything from a guitar and two chords to virtuoso saxophone skills: it was more than just angry kids playing stupidly fast, it was art.
