5 Rockin’ Songs for Fridays

Rocking because it’s Friday …

I’ve always enjoyed turning on the radio as I drive into work on Friday mornings and again as I’m driving home on Friday evenings.  The music on Fridays seems to have a more upbeat and generally happier tone than the music that is played the rest of the week, and I suspect that this is due to the anticipation of the weekend, the hope of a day or two of relaxation and enjoyment, or the opportunity to get some projects done at home — whatever trips your trigger.

Of course, it might just be the same as the “camping effect” on food … just as eating food around a campfire makes the food taste a couple notches better, perhaps it is also true that the music sounds better simply because it is Friday.

Regardless, these are tunes that are good “Hey I’m driving home and it’s time to get the weekend started” kinds of tunes.

There are no claims that these are the best or anything like that.  These are just fun.

So sit back, pretend it’s Friday, and enjoy!

I can’t think of a better way to get started than with a little bit of Led Zeppelin.

Few will argue that this is a fun Friday song, with Mr. Mercury and the boys.

The Who has always been a fun band to listen to, and this is one of their best.

I knew nothing about Rory Gallagher before I started posting these Rockin’ Songs articles.  I’ve done a little bit of looking into his stuff, and I’m thoroughly impressed.  This guy can play.  Thanks to all you readers who have enlightened me!  Here’s Mr. Gallagher with Bullfrog Blues.

Freebird is a song that’s good for almost any occasion.  The beginning is a nostalgic piece, but the ending solo always gets my heart racing.  When I’m tired from a long work week, the energy boost from these guitar licks is amazing.

Play me some Skynyrd, won’t you?

Happy Fridays, y’all!
