Las Vegas boy band, The Higher, gets set to release new album this summer.
Sin City is unleashing the newest record full of a diversity that is lacking among what sometimes seems to be a monotonous music industry – a record guaranteed to rock your socks off – via native pop/rock boy band, The Higher. With their third full-length album, It’s Only Natural, the fivesome is coming off changes in their line-up (acquiring Boys Like Girls drum tech, Doug McCarthy, and Andrew Evans on guitar) but couldn’t feel better about where they are now. R&B influences mixed with relatable lyrics and creative sound proves The Higher (original members Seth Trotter, Jason Centeno and Robert Ragan II) is still able to put a unique spin on the term “boy band” with their musical prowess.
“The new album has pretty much similar sounds as On Fire, [the last album], just with a little bit more of a darker rock influence to it,” Jason explains. “It’s not as happy as On Fire, but it has the same kind of pop/R&B feel. We just did what we always do.”
Of course, inspiration for lyrics and music vary from musician to musician, and it comes as no surprise that being based in such an innovative place as Las Vegas the band would find ideas bursting at the seams. Taking advantage of all the bells and whistles the city has to offer really does come natural for The Higher.
“Our records always have some kind of Vegas influence, either in theme or in lyrics or just an atmosphere,” Jason said. “We [also] draw inspiration from Ne-Yo, The Dream, R. Kelly, family; you know, the basic stuff.”
Once It’s Only Natural hits the streets the guys will find themselves taking off on the road again for another tour. And it’s there on stage and in person where Jason says you’ll really be able to see what sets The Higher above all the rest.
