Story of the Beatles

One of the famous band in the world of music that ruled million of hearts over years was “The Beatles”. British group became popular as rock and pop band and later on moved on to form musicals in other genre as well.

Group consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. Group was initiated by John Lennon who formed a group called The Quarrymen in 1957. Later on Paul McCartney joined him and George Harrison followed as a lead guitarist. Ringo Starr too joined the group as drummer while John Lennon gave his voice to the group helped by guitarist Paul and Harrison. Group was then named as The Beatles and rules their golden period in 60s. The group had set many record breaking sales of milestones and had many record contracts. They travelled to United States performing as a group for the first time in 1964.

Group was also involved in some controversies like that in Philippines and about the remark on Christianity made by Lennon. When the group toured Philippines for their performance in the country they were invited for breakfast by nation’s first lady, Imelda Macros but the group had declined it as it was not a part of their policy. What followed was nationwide outrage in Philippines against the group and they were forced to return without performing. Angry mob had created lot of problems for them even while they were at airport trying to board the plane. In another controversy Lennon had made a remark stating that Christianity was going down and that Beatles are now more popular than Jesus also made some fuss among religious groups and institutions.

In 1970 group was dissolved and all the artist later performed as solo further expanding their art among people. Story of Lennon ended when he was shot and killed while the rest of the three members had reunited in 1994 to compose a musical “Free as a Bird”
