Pop Culture: Is It Getting to Be Too Much?

With the Britney Spears song “If You Seek Amy”, is pop culture really getting to be too much for the youngsters?

Well, I must say, Miss Britney Spears certainly did it again.  This time she didn’t have a nervous breakdown (and no people, it has nothing to do with her sons), but actually it does happen to deal with her song “If You Seek Amy”.  Adults with younger children *ahem soccer moms* are infuriated by the suggestive song.  In all honesty though, I’m 18 and when I first head this song I didn’t even catch on to it.

So this leads to the question, is pop culture getting more XXX rated?

Think of it like this, the song has a double meaning.  It’s mainly about a search for identity, the kind of identity that everyone will like her and not think she’s well provocative.  I mean seriously though, remember the song “Lady Marmalade”…don’t even tell me that wasn’t suggestive.  Lil’ Wayne’s “Lollipop”?  Yes, that too was suggestive.  LL Cool J’s ”Doin It”?  Haha, I hope you get the hint.

Now compared to other songs that I have heard within my life, this song is entirely not even close to being as suggestive as people are making it out to be.  It is titled “If You Seek Amy” not the other spelling with the dirty meaning.

Give it a rest already, if you don’t want your child listening to that or any other suggestive song then you can always turn the radio…especially to metal rock (then you won’t have to worry about what the child hears, because you can barely understand what they’re saying).
