Earning over two million views in one day, Justin Bieber reveals the new music video that’s destined to be a hit.
The music video to “Next 2 You” was directed by Colin Tilley and filmed at the Universal Studios in Los Angeles. In an interview with MTV News, Tilley spoke briefly about the video, saying “Tomorrow, I’m shooting New Boyz and Chris Brown … then Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, together… I can’t tell you anything about that yet, but it’s going to happen. It’s gonna be big. It’s gonna be big. I can’t say anything else.” On May 21, 2011, Brown posted two photos from the shoot via Twitter, showing him and Bieber standing among overturned cars in a path of destruction. However, the unfinished version of the music video leaked onto the internet on June 6, and the official music video has been released on 17th June 2011 via VEVO.
The music video stars Shannon Elizabeth as Brown’s girlfriend. In the video, Brown and Bieber’s history are reflected with each of them reminiscing on their girlfriends. As Brown’s girlfriend leaves their apartment, he witnesses the car blowing up, and rushes out to find his girlfriend, as at the same time, he feels a heavy tremble in their apartment. On the other side, Bieber gives his girlfriend a necklace, as well as reminiscing the happy times with his girlfriend, until her father takes her away, forbidding her from ever seeing Bieber again. The video then shows an a quarry and dark earthquake hitting the streets of New York, as both Brown and Bieber sing for their loved ones who are stuck in the tremble, admist sing on top of a building with gloomy clouds and lightning. Brown’s girlfriend is hit by a car, upon his arrival to the city, he makes a dramatic jump to save her, and Bieber’s girlfriend runs away from her father to find Bieber. In the end, Bieber and his girlfriend share a kiss, and Brown walks through the city alone with the city in pieces.
