She’s back! In a big way, and this time it’s a good one.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the video for Britney Spear’s new hit, “Womanizer”, and once you have, all you can say is “Wow”. She looks amazing and she’s clawing her way back to the top, french manicure and all.
If you had told me a year ago that Britney Spears would be a household name in late 2008, and that it wouldn’t have anything to do with head shaving, crazy driving, excessive drinking and custody hearings I probably would have laughed…a lot. However, she’s done it. Under the watchful eye (and custody) of her parents, Brit has managed to drag herself up by her coattails, get it together, and rise like a Phoenix.
Now she’s back in the limelight and even prepping to launch a world tour of her (very appropriately named) new album, “Circus”. Instead of the bubble gum pop that we’ve become accustomed to from pre-meltdown Britney, this new post-meltdown comeback Britney has emerged trying to put forth an image of a strong, more sophisticated star…and it’s working. If the public loves anything it’s watching a star come back from personal catastrophe.
And catastrophy it’s been. Years 2005 – 2007 seemed so rife with Britney drama that it became a kitchen table topic. It was clear to the world that the diva had gone clear off of the reservation, and didn’t appear like she was ever coming back. The world watched in shock and horror at the antics of her “parenting” and she was critized and chastised for everything that she did, said or thought about for a long period of time. When she was denied visitation rights to her children, a onlooking public sighed with relief. It seemed that even though Britney was out of the limelight, she was still piped into our living rooms, and this time in a very unflattering way.
Weeks would go by with headline after headline that reveled the latest saga in the pop star’s life, and it seemed like it was one big fat drama drenched moment after another. Soon, we weren’t surpised by anything that the diva did. I doubt we would have been suprised if she had jumped on the Scientology bandwagon and declared Xenu her overload and messiah. However, the princess suprised us one last time, by making the biggest comeback a singer has made since…well ever. Britney, hit us one more time.
