Like American Bandstand, the next longest, if not the longest program has bit the dust. We true fans know, it wasn’t the same after Don Cornelius, when behind the executive branch strictly. The other variety of hosts just didn’t have the vocal tone that he did.
We old fans can remember when it use to be live. When Al Green, and Marvin Gaye truly sung live. When Joe Tex claimed to JO JO, his phase “Now give it to me. The youth with their dances. Which looks odd now. Musical acts who probably wouldn’t ever make it on Bandstand. Did make it on Soul Train.
This show in it earlier years showcase the blues, the funk, the smooth love, the beginning of rap. Before we knew anything about west coast, east coast competition. The beginning of disco. They had David Ruffin as a solo star on their. Even his ex group mate Eddie Kendrick, where both was in a setting where they looked like they was urning for their ex mates.
Once Don Cornelius sold his creation. We fans saw doom glooming. No one cherish your creation better than the originator. Where you had love for the product. The new owners has profits. We saw that when Chess Records was sold in the seventies. GTR Corporation, had no clue about the musical business. And soon sold the label later. So peace, love, and soul as Soul Train roll on into musical heaven.
