Alright, they may not be everyone’s top ten, but they’re mine. Enjoy.

Pantera is one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time. They were formed in Texas during the early eighties by brothers Vinnie Paul (resident bad@ss drummer) and Dimebag Darrell (a guitarist who needed no introduction). They were later joined by Rex Brown (kick@ss bassist) and Phil Anselmo (one of the most recognizable heavy metal frontmen of my generation). Altogether, Pantera produced nine albums, five of which were and are immensely popular with the metal crowd. In fact, you will only see songs off of the latter five of their albums in this list. Why? Because those five albums kicked @ss. Without further ado, here are my top ten Pantera songs.
Top Ten Pantera Songs # 10: Goddamn Electric
Goddamn Electric came out in 2000 on Pantera’s last album together Reinventing the Steel. This song is one of my favorites because of Dimebag’s insane guitar skills and the lyrics of the song encompass all that is metal. Any song by Pantera that makes mention of whiskey, weed, Slayer and Black Sabbath is going to do well with me.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #9: Sandblasted Skin (reprise)
Sandblasted Skin is a song off of Pantera’s 1996 album The Great Southern Trendkill. Vinnie Paul and Dimebag kill it in this song.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #8: Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills
Rex’s bass skills and Phil’s creepy perv lyrics and voice are what make Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills one of my favorite Pantera tunes. It off of the 1994 album Far Beyond Driven.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #7: 5 Minutes Alone
5 Minutes Alone makes the list because anybody can relate to the song’s message. And every metal head can relate to the delivery of the message. 5 Minutes Alone is off of Far Beyond Driven.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #6: Regular People
Regular People is off of the 1992 album Vulgar Display of Power. I don’t know what else to say other than this song is SICK!
Top Ten Pantera Songs #5: Suicide Note Part 1
Suicide Note Part 1 is a mellower Pantera tune off of The Great Southern Trendkill. To be honest, it kind of reminds me of Black Label Society.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #4: This Love
This Love is a brutal love song that only Pantera could pull off. It is off of the album Vulgar Display of Power and the band did such an awesome job with this one that it might have made number one, but I prefer the faster, heavier ones. That is definitely not to say that this song isn’t heavy, because it is.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #3: F#cking Hostile
I’ll just tell you what album this is off of and let the song speak for itself. It’s off Vulgar Display of Power.
Top Ten Pantera Songs #2: Heresy
Can I just say that I love this band. Damn, this song is good. It is off of the 1990 album Cowboys From Hell. Oh, be sure to listen for Phil Anselmo’s prepubescent screams in this one. Sick!
Top Ten Pantera Songs #1: Cemetery Gates
This song is a f*cking metal masterpiece. It’s off of Cowboys From Hell.
Pantera has broken up since the time that these songs and albums came out. And, sadly, since then, Dimebag Darrell was murdered in a club shooting while he was performing with his brother Vinnie in the band Damageplan. It is highly unlikely that the band will reunite. Beside the fact that many fans, like myself, would never see them without Dimebag (unless they did a tribute with God a.k.a Zakk Wylde), the band had broken up due to conflicts long before Dimebag was killed.

5 minutes alone would have been my no 1; but cemetery gates also rocks.

I actually picked Cemetery Gates because I love the part where Dimebag’s guitar and Phil’s voice are having a metal duet. I love when Anselmo screams like a girl. Does that make me gay?

Well done, if you like that sort of music.
Great information though.
