Reggeatoneros Snub Calle 13 for Being Greedy at the Latin Grammies.
Ok people what is going on? How is it that we are going to hate so much on another fellow Reggeatonero for taking the whole cake for Reggeaton? All hats off to the new comers and their 1st album “Calle 13”. All self proclaimed “Kings” subjected that knight to the jesters of the game. Calle 13 took home the three Latin Grammies that were up for grabs for the Reggeaton genre.
Ahorra vean el chisme…according to their fellow Reggeatoneros they ain’t “barrio”. I mean the group is named after a street…in El Barrio, in Puerto Rico. That’s f*kd up!!! Yankee SWEPT the Latin Grammies last year and no one (other than Don O and the broke reggeatoneros) said SH@T!!! And he was on MTV 50 times a day and on regular rotation on English radio stations in the US. WHAT’S GOOD?!?!?
Are WyY “BOO” calle? Is Tito El Bambino or Zion calle? What about Shakira or Aventura are they calle?
Just like Yankee, Calle 13 had a MEGA club banger in the remix to “Chulin Culin Chunfly” with Three Six Mafia AND I still saw a nomination for Yankees’ “Rompe” snuck in there some were. The votes are made by industry heads and many of the communication outlets so I wonder who they will blame. Now, I am not going to hate on the certain runners up WyY “BOO” (who by the way would have won all three and said they deserved it and no one would have been mad), I must admit there was some stiff comp. “Pal Mundo Entero” is a ridiculous album with about 4 songs on regular rotation two of which were #1 on the charts and a few videos. It could have gone either way, I think this all comes down to Reggeaton being so new that we are lucky to have a spot in such a prestigious award ceremony. With so many blends of Latin and urban sounds jammed up into a continuous and contagiously rhythmic beat, it’s too early in the genres life to begin creating sub sections and even have one for one of the more vocal critics of the Calle 13 sweep, (my chick) Ivy Queen. There’s something to complain about…open up a few more doors say for like…other female Reggeaton artists and then she could walk off with one too.
There messages sometimes coded but very entertaining. Rapping or jibber jabbing about everything from P Diddy’s sweat shops to the murder of Filiberto Ojeda Rios they have a very slick way of sneaking in the message with their comical and continuous delivery.
I think there accomplishment will be long lived and lead to bigger and better things for the group. I can’t say how long they will be around for but while they are here they will be heard and offer a new beginning to a new sound.

definately agree!! i think calle 13 got the awards cause they brought something different in lyrics, music, image… over the monotonous WY and DY, DO .. street look, repetitive beats and watered down lyrics.

Yuk.. Calle 13.. I just don’t agree with u at all… Calle 13 wtf.. not hating, u wondering why the fans are mad? The one they expected the less to win, won…. how u want people to accept it? Once again, it’s not hate, but calle 13 are too marginal to deserve these awards… And who said Chulin Cullin Cunfly was a bangin song? A lot of people can’t listen to that thing… I went to DR and Cuba this summer and songs like Salio el Sol and things from W&Y and DY were the real bangin song… u cant blame people for not accepting this decision.

Calle 13’s flow is fresh. Anyone hating on Calle 13 doesn’t know music, period. These cats are ORIGINAL. Do you know what original is??? Any idea?? This dude spits fire…period. His metaphors are crazy. Why am i even writing about this dude?? Not to mention the beats. This post is over.

So all the buzz made me listen to all the albums involved. My conclusion is WyY are bad in the musical perspective and the fact that they are soar losers makes them even worst. I had never listened to Reggeaton before these albums and I still listen to calle 13 now they have unique beats and the lyrics are clever.
