Wyclef Looks Back at Origins.

The 37 year-old artist, Wyclef Jean choose to revisit his hip hop origins  while recording his  self-titled album “From the Hut, To the Projects, To the Mansion” which is for spring 2010. His new project is under Megaforce Sony Music released Nov. 10 of this year by his own Carnival House Records. His album makes its way to No. 36 on the top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart of Billboard.com.

The songwriter, hip-hop artist, Wyclef is using his aka  Toussaint St. Jean, his alter ego when he raps. The character is based on Toussaint Louverture, a hero in Haitian Revolution. This newly released album has the special participation of the American Grammy Award-winning record producer, singer and rapper, Timbaland, Eve, Kimberly Denise Jones popularly known as Lil Kim and with American singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper. All of them are making history  on their genre.

The rapper made it clear from this new album that he is so proud of his roots. “When you get to a certain point in your career, people forget where you came from,” Wyclef said. Furthermore he said that the all-new material reflects his skills to everyone and his own flavor of hip hop music.

One of his songs, “The Streets Pronounce Me Dead” clearly dedicated to the needy people struck by poverty of the Award Winning movie “Slumdog Millionaire” which has the following lyrics of “We don’t care what you say, from the hut to the projects to the mansion, now a millionaire/If you come from the hood, expect nothing less/ I wanna see you get your money.” He emphasizes that “whatever you want to do, you can accomplish. If I came from nothing and became something, If I was chosen for greatness, then so you can.”

Wyclef Jean is one of the important performers for the upcoming Nobel Peace Prize Concert Dec. 11 with various artist like Toby Keith, Donna Summer, and many others.
