Legendary rapper, Heavy D, one of the most influential rappers of the 90s – died today.
Heavy D, real name Dwight Arrington Myers, was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital during the day and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 o’clock in the morning. He was aged 44 years.
Known to call 911 from home in Beverly Hills Heavy happened at about 11:25 pm reporting a man unconscious.
When help arrived, Heavy D in a state of conscious and still talking. He was taken to a nearby hospital. He died some time later.
According to police, Heavy has just come back to shop and walked up some stairs when he suddenly experienced shortness of breath.
Adam Mills, a designer who was in the building and knew Heavy D, found he was leaning against the fence and was in trouble.
Adam said he was hugging Heavy when someone else called 911. Adam said Heavy D in a state of conscious and said to him, “I can not breathe, I can not breathe.”
When the paramedics took him to the hospital his pulse still beats. The people in the building said he died of a heart attack.
Heavy D has some big hits – including “Now That We Found Love.” He also wrote and brought the theme song “In Living Color” … and appeared as an actor in the film “Life.”
Heavy featured in a concert in honor of Michael Jackson in Wales on October 8. He sang “Jam” with La Toya Jackson.
