Upon leaving the group Dr.Dre went on to join Deathrow wear he released his first solo album The Chronic which heavily featured new artist at the time Snoop Dogg. The Chronic was hailed as a classic hip hop album and still is today. Dre left Deathrow in 1996 an went on to create his own music label called Aftermath. After a few years rumor began to circulate that Aftermath was in financial distress until Dr.Dre signed Eminem a white rapper from Detroit. Eminems successes and the release of Dr.Dre’s second solo album Chronic 2001 were enough to keep Aftermath financially safe. From 2001 on Dr.Dre has focused more on production then rapping, as well as working with his artist signed to Aftermath including Eminem and 50 Cent. In 2004 Dre was assaulted by a man during the Vibe awards. During the assault the man was stabbed by Young Buck an artist signed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit label.
