Amazing Grace has been performed by singers worldwide, both in the secular and religious communities. The most powerful performance of Amazing Grace that I have ever heard was performed by Il Divo.
Many of you know the story of the song Amazing Grace and that it was written by John Newton, an Englishman born in 1725 who was a slave trader, but whose life changed when he survived a terrible storm at sea and he felt that God’s grace had saved him.
This popular song has been sung by just about everybody who’s anybody in the vocal music world, from Elvis to Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, from rock stars to opera stars to country music stars to gospel music stars. This song carries a powerful message of hope and of God’s redemption, and a good rendition of the song can bring a man to his knees.
In late January, 2009, Triond writer yaffel sent me a note with a link to a YouTube performance of Amazing Grace, performed by Il Divo. Yaffel said that this was an amazing and beautiful performance, so I eagerly listened and was delighted to find that the recommendation was perfect. This Il Divo performance is the most stunning rendition of Amazing Grace that I’ve ever heard.
There’s nothing that can be said to prepare you for what you are about to hear. Sit back and enjoy this, and if you are in an environment where you can do this, crank up the volume. You will be blown away at around the 3:00 mark (the last verse).
Again, I’d like to give special thanks to yaffel for bringing this wonderful performance to our attention!

An amazing song. For me, the best I’ve ever heard was in a large stone church in southern Pennsylvania. It was my friends wedding and at one point he introduced his father, a bear of a man, at the very back of the church. His father sang the the song so beautifully and with such conviction, I believe the statues cried that day.
Thanks,
Clay
