Introducing Adelaide’s Cape

Say hello to 2010’s poster-boy for the nu-folk movement…

Adelaide’s Cape has been making waves so far in 2010, and with a hectic summer touring schedule, his rise in the music scene doesn’t look set to stop…

Having only been playing music seriously since the beginning of 2010, this talented folk troubadour has already been out on tour with Alessi’s Ark, First Aid Kit, Rachael Dadd and The Miserable Rich – impressive work considering the short timespan of his career so far. He’s also received support from the NME, The Independent and a range of music blogs. So what’s all the fuss about?

His first EP ‘Last Sleep In Albion’ was release back in March and showcases five wonderful tracks from Sam “Adelaide’s Cape” Taylor’s lengthy setlist. The release has already earned him comparisons with Nick Drake, Chris Wood and John Martyn – again, impressive feats! – as well as modern counterparts such as Johnny Flynn and Mumford & Sons. His music has a real soulful elegance about it that might come unexpected from a gruff, flip-flop wearing Scotsman travelling up and down the UK.

This summer sees him do Wychwood Festival, Secret Garden Party Festival, Underground Festival, Barn On The Farm Festival and many more. All sounds amazing, right? Well, he deserves it – check out the videos below or his MySpace page if you don’t believe me. He’s definitely one of my picks for this year.
