Adelaide’s Cape are a fresh new folk band hailing from Bristol who are about to conquer the nationwide  music scene. Starting out in 2006, Adelaide’s Cape have managed to accrue an immense following from their Norwich hometown and are definitely a band to keep your eye on.

Members Sam Taylor and Hannah Richardson have proved to be very talented singer-songwriters and musicians, and have produced quite a few raw sounding indie folk tracks available to hear on their MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/adelaidescape)

An Adelaide’s Cape musical favourite among fans is ‘Belle’ for its electronic folk sound which is definitely growing in popularity (Noah And The Whale’s second album, anyone?), as well as the underlying violin. ‘Stay’ has that refreshing acoustic sound and simple production with smooth soothing vocals and a catchy chorus, while ‘Oscar’ is the more commercial of their songs but perfectly displays their musical talent and witty song-writing skills.

This genre of music has definitely become more popular over the last few years and Adelaide’s Cape are showing that they can lead folk into a new direction, catching the attention of fans that may not usually be a fan of this type of music due to their choice of instruments and catchy, natural lyrics.

Adelaide’s Cape are superb live performers too, and are playing gigs around Norwich, London, Bristol and Bath before this Christmas. They have made a firm imprint in the Norwich music scene after selling out a gig at Norwich Art Centre, and are proving a big hit among London and Bristol promoters – locations that have seen some of the brightest folk music emerge over the past two years.

After signing with Jigsaw House last month, they will be recording their first EP before Christmas and releasing it in February. Live date highlights include their post-Christmas gig on December 29th at The Good Ship in London, a return to Norwich Arts Centre on January 15th, and an EP Launch Party at the well-established Luminaire in London on February 27th.
