"best not to ask, lest those black helicopters do a flyby…"

Greetings, dear readers. If you’ll remember, one of my earliest writings on Musicouch was a review of Dreiton’s classic ep, reviewing it song-for-song in the same style that I give another major netlabel. We’re here to do more of the same with Dreiton’s second release, the chill “Seltsam EP”. Less banging techno than the the first one, the Seltsam EP still has a nice, chill ambience to it. You can get your copy of that work here.
A dub of bass amidst ambience, before some mechanical sounds. Like a hard drive struggling to recall it’s last byte. Motors moving heads about. Almost quaint in this SandForce era. Noises, and continued clicks of death, before what sounds like a hi-hat percussion line playing about in my headphones, as the ambience LFOs gently. This track is definitely closer to seltsam and liner than it is to hard. A sirenish sound approaching. Best to pull over, you. Later on, more of that hi-hat percussion, but otherwise, neat homogenity, which is a trope, coherency is a key of this record. The alarms and clicks make this tune feel less organic than the earlier parts of the EP, too. With a minute to go, the LFO’d ambience and dubbing returns, but the reason for the klaxons is just as unclear when we first heard them – best not to ask, lest those black helicopters do a flyby…
