I explain just why I have so much disdain for the band Sugarland in a comical fashion.
Her live performances make me cringe and I can’t even make eye contact with the Tv it is so bad, I have to look away. The more I learn about her the more she makes me sick. Everything about their stage show is so rehearsed and it comes off like a cutesy, school play that missed the mark and just comes off as slapstick gimmickry . I like watching someone on stage that feels the music and just goes with the flow. It is painfully apparent when watching them perform that every step, eye brow raise, ugly lip pucker, wink, smile, shared inside glance, phony laugh and hip swirl is a product of watching herself in the mirror too often and thinking “damn I’m good!”
The good news for us is that when there is no substance behind something, it never lasts too long. Nashville is so quick to spit out the next big thing to cram down our throats which does sell a lot of records to people who buy into the scheduled written formula Nashville crap and in a few years we will be free from hearing those “hits” on the radio when songs like “He stopped Loving Her Today“ will be heard on radio stations as long as there are radio stations to be heard. People with real talent usually have a slower, painstakingly, unappreciated rise to the top but tend to have the longevity that people with character seek.
I am a big fan of real music, real talent, real love for the art, real roots, real emotion, real honest answers in interviews and real character. All of which Sugarland is terribly lacking.
If you can watch them and NOT see what I have described here…then I don’t know what to say about that.
