The goal of many song writers and musicians is to win top honors at the Country Music Awards ceremony. Most of them are winners long before they accept any awards.
Color is to the eye as music is to the ear. No wonder the country song, “You Should Have Seen It in Color” by Jamey Johnson is so strong. Recently, the people of our little town, Atoka, Oklahoma, were proud to hear new artist, Jason Meadows and our local Tushka High School senior, Britt Phillips perform at a local fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Songwriters, musicians, and performers are filled with messages and creativity. Britt is a perfect example, he has found a way to express himself. He grabs the first thing handy to write on when the words start flowing. One of his first songs was written on a feed sack. Once, he pulled a muscle working so while he rested on the sofa the next day he wrote a song called, “Reasons”; it will probably turn out to be a very profitable day when it makes the best seller list. Britt’s English teacher quoted, “I kept trying to get him to write, if I had only knew he just needed to put it to music.”
It is obvious Britt is a talented. But, for anyone who really knows him, this performance brought back scenes for us of the brave eighteen month old that had brain surgery. And the growing boy that made trips to the Shriner’s Hospital. It is just another burst of color, that Britt’s new found talent was exposed just in time for this occasion. His childhood is over, his talent is born, and you should have seen it in color!
