Big year for music… 2011.. All the number one albums from 2011 that went to number one in the UK.

Who has had a number one album in the UK in 2011? Rihanna, Adele and Lady Gaga to name a few. Here are the number one albums 2011: In the UK.

Loud – Rihanna –

Rihanna spent three weeks in the number one album chart spot back in January, from the 2nd to the 16th. In the first week she shifted 76,237 copies, the second week 50,088, and the third  44,827, so really not bad going. She’s been releasing material of it all year, and it’s all been top notch stuff. Well worth the £7 i paid for it. Now will have to find another bob or two for the next album Talk That Talk!

Doo-Wops & Hooligans – Bruno Mars -

On the 23rd January 2011 Bruno Mars overtook Rihanna for one week at the top of the UK Album Chart, selling 86, 243 copies in a week. I really like this guy, other than the fact he was arrested for cocaine possession….. he’s a really good singer and reminds me a little bit of a young Michael Jackson? Excellent songs on there though from Grenade, Marry You, Just The Way You Are, and of course that annoying The Lazy Song.

21 - Adele -

I love this girl to pieces. It’s amazing to think she is the same age as me and has become a global multi million selling artist. From the 30th January she spent an incredible 11 weeks as having the number one album. I think it is the album of 2011. In the first week alone she sold over 200,000 records and the weeks following that she sold over 100,000. The week she got knocked off the top spot it was by less than 100 copies!

Wasting Light – Foo Fighters -

To be honest I’m not a Foo Fighters fan and don’t think I could name you one of their songs, but nevertheless they did great to knock Adele off the number one album spot of that particular week in April 2011, 17th to be precise. And selling over 100,000 copies to get there in the process. Nice one.

21 – Adele -

On the 24th April, Adele stole back number one and stayed there for another 5 weeks, until the 22nd May. I got the album when it first came out and it really is something that is different from anything else you will see on this chart, in fact she is in a league of her own.
